Solar Power

NEWS: The Feed In Tarrif is available that can pay you up to £1000 per year for solar PV installations, but has been cut as it was too good to be true.

NEWS: The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is due to be launched which can pay you for using solar hot water systems. click here for more information.

renewable energy house pictureThere are two types of solar panels:

  • Solar PV panels (photovoltaics that produce electricity)
  • Solar Hot Water panels (that make hot water)

We provide a FREE assessment of your property to see if it is suitable for solar panels in East Yorkshire. We can then supply and install solar panels from our partner British ECO. British ECO is a national company that has been going since 2002 and has many installations around the country. They are MCS accredited (#1377)

Solar PV

solar panel pictureSolar photovoltaic (PV) panels convert sunlight into electricity. They are commonly mounted on your house roof and connect into the national grid. When the sun is shining they produce electricity which is sold to the national grid (making you money)  or used in the house (saving you money).

We can also provide solar systems for flat roofs, for new build and for commercial properties.

Simply contact us for a FREE assessment. We will come round and assess the roof then provide an estimate of the potential output of a solar PV system along with the costs so that we can determine the payback time. Guide prices for a typical house would be from about £6,000 - £12,000.

The UK government recently announced its new grant scheme called the "Feed-In-Tariff", which can pay you typically hundreds of pounds per year. You have to use a MCS accredited company (like British ECO) to get this grant. Recently there has been a large cut to these grants by the Conservative / Liberal Coalition Government

Here is an example of a typical system: 2kw PV solar array

  • Yearly output = 1700 kW
  • Feed in tariff = £357 (even under new much smaller grant)
  • Money made and saved from electricity sold to the grid = £127
  • Total income for you (Tax free, index linked and guaranteed for 25 years) = £484 per year
  • These systems can still produce up to a 10% return on investment - but I bet you wish you had rang me before October !

Solar Hot Water

solar hot water panel pictureSolar hot water panels produce hot water for use in the home. Again they are mounted on to the roof and are plumbed into the hot water system of your house. Typically they connect to your hot water tank.

As the sun shines on the panel during the day it heats up the water, which is then stored in your hot water cylinder for use later. The cylinder is highly insulated so that the water stays hot for when you need it later of course!

It is planned that Solar hot water panels are going to be eligible for the "Renewable-Heat-Incentive", which is in consultation with government at the moment. It would pay you back money in a similar way to the feed-in-tariff above. Guide prices for a typical house would be from about £3,000 - £4,000.

We can provide solar systems though our partner British ECO call now for a FREE assessment and no-obligation quotation.
